mydarling: (PRISON BREAK. my heart's still beating.)
  1. It's official: I'M GOING TO CHICAGO ON THURSDAY! Mommy&Dad were very willing to let me go, provided I talked with my aunt to see if it was okay with her, and I pay for my train ticket and everything. I bought my ticket this morning (I'm taking Amtrak - the Joe Biden way to travel!), and I'm very excited because this is my first "adult" trip that I've done myself. I leave Thursday afternoon a few hours after my Stats final, and my cousin Claire is meeting me at the train station and we'll spend a little time in the city before heading to my aunt's house in Lake Forest. (At least, that's the plan. I left a message with her earlier this afternoon but she hasn't called me back yet. She leaves for Chicago tomorrow, so I hope to confirm things with her before then.) And I come back to Michigan on Monday afternoon. It's going to be a wonderful vacation.

  2. I took three tests today: last Stats test of the semester, Government final, and Speech final. The hardest one, suprisingly, was the Government one, but those tests are always hard. I finished all three early, which I didn't think was possible for Stats - I was really nervous about that one. But it was pretty easy, and I think I did well. I'm really sad I'm done with Speech class because that was my favorite. Only two more, and then I'm done for three weeks! It can't come soon enough.

  3. Prison Break was absolutely wonderful last night. I'm nervous for next week's "Fall Finale" because I fear it'll end in a cliffhanger that we'll never get the conclusion to. I don't know when this show will be back because House and 24 are going to be Mondays in January, and I don't want to wait until Spring for the conclusion. I just want this show to end with everyone happy, and I'm sure that's what other viewers want as well.

  4. I'm not excited for the post-Superbowl episode of The Office as I used to be. Stupid lame spoilers.

  5. Downloading/converting a bunch of videos to put on my iPod for the Chicago trip - this week's Prison Break, the Mad Men pilot, various episodes of 30 Rock from season 2, Eureka, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Plus, new music from various indie bands via iTunes and its awesome "studying/school-related" playlist. Now the 5-hour train ride won't be so unbareable.

  6. I was watching Season 3 of The West Wing this morning, and then I realized it was December 16, so as a West Wing fan I'm obligated to quote Leo McGarry. Instead of using the "Big Block of Cheese Day" quote like I did the past two years (it's here if anyone cares), I decided to do this one instead, because it reminds me of my Astronomy class:

Josh: Hey, Leo. You know, there's something called the Super String Theory. Which at its most basic level says that the universe consists of these tiny loops of string that vibrate at different frequencies.
Leo: How did that bullet not kill you?
    Josh: Just lucky, I guess.

I like to think that Leo would've liked Obama, don't you?
mydarling: (HOUSE. pity and fear.)
Thanks to House, I will have "Lime in the Coconut" stuck in my head ALL FRAKKING DAY tomorrow - just what I need. Also, Sean Connery impression! And the smallest of references to UMich! That is all.

a meme from tunaeverynight )

I'm going to go upload Christmas music to my iPod and then look over the paper I'm taking my speech from. That is, if I don't fall asleep first. It's been a long day and I'm exhausted.
mydarling: (PRISONBREAK. somewhere.)
I skipped both Astronomy and English yesterday and instead spent time watching Studio 60 in the computer lab (I watched "B-12" and "Monday"; skipped over "The Christmas Show" because it's not Christmas yet), and then headed to the cafeteria-restaurant on campus to study for my Stats test. I hadn't been to it yet, and wanted to do so before I'm no longer a student here. I had a so-so cheeseburger and fries, but it didn't really matter because I just wanted food at that point. And the view was absolutely amazing and looked so pretty with the snow falling down.

Stats test went wonderfully. I guess studying really did pay off, because I'm confident I did everything right. Now I'm anxious to get it back, and am hoping that it boosts my grade a little. Honestly, that was probably the easiest sections we've covered, so the test was pretty easy. I even finished before the class had ended, which never happens.

Decided to switch topics for my final speech; instead of "green living", I'm doing television censorship. I did a paper on it for English last year, so it's cited and everything, I just need to polish it a little bit and turn it into a speech. And then I need to get visual aides for it, which may prove difficult. It's due in a week, but I think this will be easier than trying to come up with something new. I just hope I can make it work.

I went swimming last night at the gym, and it was wonderfully relaxing. I still smell faintly like chlorine, but it left me so tired that I slept incredibly well last night. I'm hoping I can do it again soon.

Prison Break continues to leave me shocked, but I'm anxious to get this season (and the series) over with. I just want it to end well with everyone happy. That's all I've ever wanted this season.

I'm absolutely OBSESSED with Coldplay's "Life in Technicolor II". I loved the original instrumental version when it came out a few months ago (and now it will always remind me of the Olympics; Thanks, NBC!), and to finally get words to it makes it that much better. I love it.

AND. I'm now Facebook friends with Emily Prentiss. So is Monica; in fact, she recently wrote on Emily's wall. SHUT UP.
mydarling: (STUDIOSIXTY. hannah harriet.)
I'm back. Sort of. I've still got tons of work to do. A Stats test tomorrow that I haven't really studied for, and my final speech of the semester for Speech class is due next week, and I only just finished getting sources this morning. I promised I wouldn't post until everything is done, but once I'm done with my speech next week, it'll be time to start studying for finals. So this is just a temporary return from hiatus to update. After this is done I'm going right back to work. I really need to do well on this Stats test so I don't fail the course, and this speech is proving to be the most difficult thing I've ever done.

ANYWAY. Thanksgiving went wonderfully. I had fun with my cousins, and was especially excited to see my older cousin who goes to Dallas. He told me stories of all the ridiculous things he's done while there. It made me wish I went to an actual college so I had some stories to tell. I really want to go visit him, but it's difficult to travel there on such a tight schedule. We watched the Lions come one step closer to obtaining a perfect losing record. And the food was wonderful! I don't usually eat a lot on Thanksgiving (I don't eat a lot in general), but I did eat my fare share of the apple&cherry pies we had; they were delicious. I ended up going to bed early because Mommy dragged me to church that morning. Plus, I had a lot of work left to do over the weekend and I wanted to be able to focus.

None of us went shopping on Black Friday. Mommy used to get up early and shop when we were little, but nowadays there's nothing she'd be willing to shop at 5 AM for. And with the economy here so bad and the threat of Dad losing his job hanging over us, there isn't going to be much of a Christmas at our house. I'm making gift lists for myself and the rest of the family anyways. There really isn't a lot that I want besides The Audacity of Hope and the new Sports Night DVDs. I'd really like a laptop, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get one because a) they're expensive, and b) I won't really need one until next fall. But it would be nice to have.

Monica put our Christmas tree up with the help of a friend yesterday, and I'm in the process of making a Christmas mix that I'll post later once I've got it all together. A semi-consolation prize for not getting my [livejournal.com profile] picspammy done on time. We got a lot of snow here last night (though not enough for a snow day, sadly), so it's really starting to feel like Christmas.

CSI:NY was so wonderful last week that I watched it again right after it aired. And I nearly had a heart attack seeing the promos for this weeks' episode of The Office. AND HOUSE! I'M SO EXCITED, GUYS.
mydarling: (60; only to love you)
  1. The only good part about SNL last night was Justin Timberlake, and he wasn't even the host or musical guest. I'm sad that he won't be the host next week - his plans for the show sounded awesome. It probably would've made up for the shittness that was this week. Also, I'm already liking the new girl Abby Elliot, even if she wasn't in the show at all. I like redheads with low-key names :)

  2. IT'S NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET AND THERE'S ALREADY LOTS OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. WTF.

  3. I have a new layout ([livejournal.com profile] pretty_cynical); it's exactly the same as my previous one except with a new header (one of my new favorite scenes from The Office) and a blue color scheme. It's very winter-y.

  4. The Obama White House looks like it's going to be Clinton White House 2.0. (And if Obama offers John McCain a cabinet postition, I seriously might cry. The West Wing having correctly predicted the outcome of the election was weird, but predicting the administration? Just plain creepy.)

  5. Numb3rs lacked awesome this week, but next week is the sweeps episode, so I'm sure it's going to be good.

  6. I've been watching football on CBS all day (Dad prefers CBS commentators to the ones on FOX), and I keep seeing CSI:NY that make me laugh. This week is going to be an awesome TV week.

  7. I get to skip Statistics tomorrow because I have a doctors appointment! It should give me more time to study for the test I have on Tuesday, because I haven't even looked at the study sheet the professor gave us. And I have extra time to do homework, which is nice because I went to a party with my parents & our friends from camp last night, and I just laid around and watched football earlier today and only finished one section of homework.

  8. "Single Ladies" is a very catchy song.
mydarling: (08; mi for obama!)
The Office, or why I can't shake this emo-y feeling. )

Grandma is here, and I was very excited to find out that she voted for Obama (!!!!!), and is a huge supporter of him, even though Georgia, where she lives, is solidly for McCain. We chatted about Sarah Palin last night over dinner, and she made the wonderful comparison that Mommy has about as much experience as Palin does to be VP. She's seen bits and pieces of Tina Fey's Palin impressions (we watched Amy Poehler's Palin rap last night), and she loves them. Now we're both trying to convince Mommy that she should vote for Obama instead of McCain.

Relatedly, I played around with CNN's electoral map earlier today. THAT IS A LOT OF FUN.

I just finished a section of Stats homework and an Astronomy lab on the computer today, so I have to do 3 more Stats sections and work on this big Astronomy observation project that I got at the beginning of the semester but left until the very last minute. OOPS. And I really need to devote a lot of time this weekend to studying for my next Stats test on Tuesday so I can do well on it. The first one didn't go so well, so I'm hoping this one is better.

I'm now in possession of the HSM 3: Senior Year soundtrack. It's semi-depressing.
mydarling: (a {jk} ; ipod)
  1. I did absolutely nothing of importance this weekend.
  2. Stayed up until 11:30 doing Stats homework last night because I procrastinated.
  3. Didn't fall asleep until almost 2:30 AM because I made the stupid decision to take a 4-hour nap yesterday afternoon.
  4. Death Cab For Cutie's Transatlanticism is frakking amazing.
  5. Saw commericals for the 24 prequel (which I've decided not to watch), but makes me excited that January is almost here.
  6. My room is a mess.
  7. One of my aunts (the one who most recently had a baby) and her five children are coming to MI in a few weeks.
  8. I'm excited for Thursday night TV: new episode of The Office (FINALLY) and special Thursday night SNL! (with Tina Fey!)
  9. I wish the stuff I ordered online would get here soon.
  10. Project Runway is my new guilty pleasure. I love Jerell's personality and Leanne's designs.
  11. I have a Speech test and a Government exam tomorrow, and I haven't studied for either of them.
  12. I'm bored.
mydarling: (m; beautifully broken)
Feist's "1234" is my favorite song at the moment. I put it on my iPod a few days ago and now I can't stop listening to it. And then today after class I downloaded some Duffy, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Postal Service stuff, and listening to it excites me greatly.

The Obama phonebank last night was... interesting, I guess. I don't really know to describe it. The objective last night was to call a list of undecided voters, make sure they were registered to vote, and then try to persuade them to vote for Obama. I don't like talking on the phone, especially to strangers. And I'm not at all a persuasive person. Luckily the majority of the people on my call sheets weren't home (but then I had to leave messages, which is even more awkward than actually talking to people) or uninterested. There's another one next Wednesday, which I may or may not go to. Calling random strangers and asking them who they're going to vote for was not my idea of helping the Obama campaign here in Michigan.

However, I am oh so very jealous of [livejournal.com profile] tunaeverynight because she goes to college in Grand Rapids (which is on the other side of the state), and actually got to see Barack Obama earlier today. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? The opportunity to see him is all I've ever wanted from this entire thing.

-

Last night's Criminal Minds = ABSOLUTELY ACE. And next week looks even more awesome. (HI EMILY PRENTISS, YOU ARE MY FAV THIS TIME AROUND.)

-

The [livejournal.com profile] picspammy challenge this month is "casting", which I don't fully understand. I guess you're supposed to take a book/movie/tv show/whatever and do a picspam on who you think should have been cast in each role. I SERIOUSLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS ONE. Other than my theory that Studio 60 is basically The Great Gatsby modernized and set in a television show in LA, I have nothing. (And I don't want to do Studio 60 again because I did it for my last entry, and even though the show is underrated and totally awesome, there are plenty of other things I could do.) So I may sit this one out, unless I can think of something. We'll see.

2. I will then respond with 5 questions that could be personal, but not extremely so.
3. Then update your LJ with the questions I've asked.
4. Put these same rules (or something that resemble these rules) with your questions.
5. When people ask you to interview them, you will ask them 5 questions.

I had my first English class today; I HATED IT. The professor was two minutes late (which is no big deal), but we had to wait outside the classroom, which was pretty annoying. She's a short African-American woman whose demeanor I can't really describe. She's not mean, but she treated our entire class like they were a bunch of idiots. And even though it's an English class, we're learning about the 19th Century (that's the 1800's) and the role of women. SOUNDS LIKE HISTORY, RIGHT? THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER CLASS, LAST TIME I CHECKED.

So I went on Rate My Professor and looked her up - all of her reviews are absolutely terrible. I told my parents about her, and so I've dropped the class and waiting to hear if I can get into a later one, which happens to be taught by my College Writing teacher from High School. I'm hoping it works out because I have no other options that work with my current schedule.

The only class I haven't had yet is Speech, I have it tomorrow afternoon. I looked up my professor and found mixed reviews: he's arrogant, he's funny, he's a strict grader and gives a lot of work. I'm really holding out for Speech because I really like English-type classes, and since my actual English class didn't work out so well, I don't want Speech to be ruined because it'll just ruin ALL English classes I have at College. So we'll see how it goes.
mydarling: (a; heartbreaker)
  1. I woke up at 5:30 this morning (after going to bed around 10 last night), because I'm starting to get sick. I have the beginnings of a cold and a slight sore throat. I checked my symptoms on WebMD a little while ago and it sounds as if I have a sinus infection. So today I'm going to take it easy, drink lots of fluids (orange juice especially) and take some Sudafed. I absolutely hate being sick during the summer, but the weather here has been really crazy (sunny and mid-70's for the past week, but now it's raining outside), so that's probably the cause. I just hope I'm better by the time school starts next week.

  2. I didn't stay up to watch Joe Biden's speech last night because I was so tired, but Mommy told me this morning that he did a wonderful job and is a great guy, but still keeps saying that he would make a better Secretary of State. I'm in the process of watching it online. (Also, what gives Hilary Clinton the right to stop the roll call and just declare Barack Obama the Democratic nominee? THE ROLL CALL IS THE WHOLE REASON WE HAVE THESE CONVENTIONS.)

  3. Diane Farr had her twin girls yesterday! And I absolutely love the names - Sawyer and Coco. I can't wait to see pictures of them; I'm sure they'll be just as cute (if not cuter) than Beckett. I'm going to miss her on Numb3rs this season (it just won't be the same without her!), and wish her luck taking care of her kids; she's going to have a handful with three kids under the age of 2.

  4. I really, really want to get The Office season 4 DVD from Target on Tuesday when it comes out (DVD of bonus footage, yay), but I don't think I'll be able to because I have no way of getting there. But I think Monica will be back in school by then, so it will just be Mommy and I at home. I'll ask her (and try to pull the "I can pay for it, you won't have to buy it for me for Christmas blah blah blah" card) and see what she says. I hope it works out! *crosses fingers*

  5. Maroon 5 is coming to town tomorrow night with Counting Crows&Augustana and I've been wanting to go ever since they announced it because the concert was obviously made for me. But just like every other concert I want to go to, I can't because I don't have anyone to go with, I have no money and/or no one will take me. I hate my life sometimes.

  6. I love having this little week-long break between the end of my Summer class and the beginning of my Fall classes, but now that I see all my friends who have gone away to college starting classes, I really want to start school as well. I know I'm going to regret wishing that.
mydarling: (m; beautifully broken)
So I was watching music videos through OnDemand, and I saw that there was one for Death Cab For Cutie's song "Cath", which is one of my favorite songs off Narrow Stairs.

I went to play it, and IT WAS NOT THE SONG I KNEW.

I was so confused by this random song with the same name as a previous one that I immediately googled "Cath"'s original lyrics. And surprise surprise, THEY COULD NOT BE FOUND. They were all changed to lyrics of the new version.

The new "Cath" is pretty good, and so is the video, but that's not the point; I JUST NEED CLOSURE ON WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SONG I LOVED! Because it worries me greatly.

ETA: APPARENTLY THE ENTIRE ALBUM THAT I HAVE IS INCORRECT. This just confuses me more. SO TO ANY OF YOU ON MY FLIST WHO HAVE THIS ALBUM (AND DOWNLOADED IT FROM A TORRENT, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I DID, AND ALL MY SONGS ARE WRONG) PLEASE CHECK IT AGAINST ITUNES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE THE SAME. (And if you have the correct version, could you please upload it for me? I really don't want to get it off of iTunes if I don't have to.)

ETA 2: It turns out that the album torrent I downloaded IS a fake - The songs are really by the band Velveteen, but have the names of Death Cab For Cutie songs. If you search for the album torrent now, you'll get the correct one :)
mydarling: (a; squirt)
Ever since Rainn Wilson started up Free Jenna Now, he became really unfunny to me. (In fact, I even compared him to Robin Williams on my Twitter.) And I'm not just saying that because Jenna Fischer is one of my favorite actresses; the site is just a very pointless way to get people to see his movie (Besides, it doesn't even look that good.)

BUT. He's sort of made up for all that with his iTunes celebrity playlist, which includes this:

"Tell Me in the Morning" by Cold War Kids - "These guys are from Long Beach. They kick ass. Live, it's like they're about to explode. John Krasinski and Rashida Jones turned me on to them. Thanks Jim and Karen."

Yeah, he finds new music through his much more awesome-than-him castmates. And the song? IT'S AWESOME. I LOVE IT. So I'm giving it too you all: Cold War Kids - Tell Me in the Morning. Do with it what you will.
mydarling: (random / that doesn't mean you shouldn't)
Today at VBS (last day!), I learned that religious fanatics can also get into the viral internet craze via GodTube. I'm dead serious; it's just like YouTube, except that it only has religious videos.

-

Earlier this afternoon, Dad took me to get a state ID (basically a driver's license without the driving privileges), wherein I also registered to vote and became an organ donor. And then I finally put all those uncashed checks from graduation into my first checking account. Lookit me, becoming an adult!

-

Leaving for camp tomorrow, and have been so busy/exhausted because of VBS that I haven't really packed/prepared, so I'm rushing to do that now. I need to keep up with Lost, so I have the next two episodes to watch, plus a few eps of HIMYM. The torrents for an episode of each show were being really temperamental and taking a really long time to download, so I had to buy them off of of iTunes. I really wanted to watch them, but I'm probably only going to watch them once (I know that's the case with Lost), so it's a waste of money. But I couldn't wait for the torrents because I'm a) impatient and b) strapped for time.

-

Off to finish packing/clean my room/take a shower, so see you all in a week! Look for my Muxtape mix when I get back.
mydarling: (thirtyrock / liz lemon)
Today at VBS, while were were outside in our small groups, with dark clouds hanging over us and the threat of a storm beginning at any moment, I taught the girls "Singing In The Rain", the camp song with all the ridiculous hand motions. Then were upstaged by several other groups. (And yes, it did start raining shortly after.)

Speaking of which, Mommy&Monica are currently at the movies seeing The Ultimate Gift with the rest of VBS, as we did last year with Evan Almighty. I decided not to go this time around because the trailer didn't interest me, and frankly, the plot was kind of confusing. The movie stars Abigail Breslin, and as much as I love her, Evan Almighty had Steve Carell, Ed Helms AND John Stewart. So mini-The Daily Show reunion trumps young Academy Award nominees, I suppose.

-

I desperately, desperately need to start GETTING MY LOST ON. I decided to watch episodes two at a time (it works out well starting out, because the pilot episode is in two parts), just so it takes less time to watch 4 seasons worth and to make it easier on my self. I was smart in downloading the episodes and converting them to watch on my iPod, but I haven't gotten around to actually watching them. My time right now is consumed by VBS and when I get home from that I'm so exhausted and really don't have enough energy to watch/understand/be interested in such a complex TV show. And I have to watch them soon, because I don't have enough room on my iPod, and am leaving for Camp on Saturday and want to be caught up. So, tomorrow, because it's Thursday (and that's when Lost is on), I WILL WATCH LOST.

-

Still working on my Muxtape mix - I have the songs, I just need to come up with explanations for each song. (Not really necessary when making a mix, but because it doesn't really have a theme to it, I kind of have to explain my picks.) It is incredibly difficult to write explanations for each song that a) are unique to each one, and b) not cheesy. It's like I'm doing a school assignment, which is weird, because I thought I've been done with that for a month and would never have to do it again.
mydarling: (office / paper doll)
I changed my mood theme for the first time in months. No offense to Amita, but I just like to be able to stare at Jim Halpert's wonderful varying expressions every time I look at my LJ.

-

VBS is going great. I'm head mentoring 9 sixth grade girls with the help of an HS junior. All of the girls go to school together and know each other really well (in fact, two have know each other since preschool!). The entire middle school program gathers in the church for presentations everyday, and my group is absolutely hilarious because they all sit together in one row. (It does make it easy to get them all together, though.) Things have been a little awkward during small groups, because we really don't know what to talk about (the theme for the week is "love", but we've been getting off topic), and the girl who's helping me and I can't really throw anything too deep out there because the girls may or may not understand it. They have warmed up over the past two days, which is a good sign that by Friday, I won't be able to shut them up.

-

Currently listening to my updated Muxtape. I may post it!
mydarling: (a: jk / ipod)
Here's what's being going on in my life over the past week:

01) I changed my layout ([livejournal.com profile] pretty_cynical), and have a new default icon. That scene from The Office is one of my favorites.

02) I'm going to be taking my first college class over the summer, in early July. It's my math class, which I'm not really excited about, but Math is still fresh in my mind after three months. At least I'm getting my least favorite class out of the way, and I'll get a feel for the college.

03) Music from Duffy and Phil Collins are owning my life right now.

04) It's been so nice out lately that I've been taking walks around the neighborhood.

05) I've gotten lots of graduation money, and consequently, have been writing lots of thank you notes.

06) I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Crasins (dried&sweetened cranberries).

07) I've been on the lookout for The Office spoilers (because September 25th is just too far away).

08) Finale season is over, but I haven't determined what I'm going to watch next season until premiere dates are released. I can say that I may or may not be watching a few of my favorites next season. (But not The Office. I HAVE CONFIRMED MY ATTENDANCE AT THE FACEBOOK EVENT FOR IT.)

09) I found a way to get The Office episodes on my iPod, so I don't have to wait for the DVDs.

10) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ZIVA DAVID'S HAIR.
mydarling: (numb3rs / working girl)
There were only two good things about last night's choir concert:

1) I made my dad cry when I sang "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins and dedicated it to him.
2) I ate a lot of red grapes. And they were good.

And then I watched Numb3rs, where I often said "Walk it out, LARRY", and peppered my episode commentary with "yo!". Didn't fall asleep until 2:30 AM.

All in all, a good night.

-

Today, I downloaded&listened to new music from Augustana and Death Cab For Cutie's new album. Not sure if I like it yet, but I put it on my iPod and plan to listen to it A LOT. It's a little more rock-ish than the previous ones, but the bits I've heard are good. (Also, Death Cab For Cutie and The Cab are two different bands. I just thought "The Cab" was what all the cool kids called it.)

I also watched the latest episode of Lost (really!), because there was a lot of flailing and squeeing over at [livejournal.com profile] colorstoobright's flist, and I just had to be a part of it. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Have made plans to catch up on previous seasons over the summer; good idea, yes?

-

Tomorrow, I must write my Choir essay final and review for Church History, which are the two finals I have left; they should both be easy. I also should review for AP Spanish; however there's no outside study materials that I can use. I guess I'll just have to rely on all the practice exams we've done in class. I should do well. *crosses fingers*
mydarling: (americanidol / mama brooke)
Apparently this is going to be the theme next week on American Idol. I CAN ACTUALLY WATCH NEXT WEEK BECAUSE NOT ONLY HAVE I BEEN TO THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME (AND SEEN THIS EXHIBIT), I ACTUALLY KNOW/HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL, IF NOT MOST, OF THESE SONGS.

However, there's 500 songs listed and only 8 songs to be sung. And they're all so... VARIED. It's a really good theme, but possibly too broad for this stage of the competition. It would've been better if there were more contestants, because there would be more variety with the songs.

But seriously, if anyone sings A Change Is Gonna Come or Your Song and DOESN'T MESS IT UP (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, DAVID ARCHULETA), I'll be happy.

I just don't want Mama Brooke to go home tonight, then I won't watch at all. THEY ALREADY VOTED OFF MY BOYFRIEND, who would've been totally perfect for this week.

-

Off to make Ramen, then take a nap for a while. No studying will get done here!

mydarling: (westwing / white house barbie)
I've been super stressed/frustrated the past few days, due to the following:

- A very strong headache that gets worse instead of better when I take ibuprofen (yes, even the strong stuff).
- Failing a Pre-Calc quiz (and consequently failing the class) because I was unprepared for it after Spring Break, and the teacher was no help.
- I still can't find the commercial for tomorrow's New Amsterdam, despite using every search query possible. Apparently I can wait 5 days, it'll just frustrate me in the process.
- I've lost all lack of motivation re: school because I only have a month or so left.
- I don't have a date to Prom yet (it's two weeks away), and I have no idea who to ask because I'm truly anti-social and go to an all-girls school; the guys I do know I don't know really well or have girlfriends. Also, I'm not really close with anyone at school, so I'm not sitting with anyone I really like for Prom dinner, and there's nothing I can do about it.
- My iPod has been temperamental the past few weeks: not syncing content, making iTunes freeze up, or just not working.
- POST STRIKE TV HAS SUCKED. BADLY. I'm hoping that NBC's Thursday Night Comedy Night makes up for it.
- I somehow end up with a TON of homework, and end up procrastinating so much that don't do much of it.

However, things are looking up, because:
- I don't have school tomorrow. AGAIN. And I've got TONS of stuff I need to do. I plan on seeing Leatherheads. And buying some books at Borders. And at Target? I need to get a graduation dress, another iTunes card, and more minutes for my cellphone. Plus, I need to apply to the community college I'm going to next year (and schedule a visit).
- I have new music: The Decemberists, She & Him, and Gavin DeGraw.
- I bought myself a paid account, so more icons :)
- New Amsterdam tomorrow night, FINALLY.
- The Manning Brothers and Maroon 5 on American Idol for Idol Gives Back on Wednesday!
- I GET THE OFFICE BACK IN 4 DAYS.

Stolen from nearly everyone.

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post a line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from. (NO CHEATING! And that includes using Google.)
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

feel funky, feel good. )
