Today? Today was fantastic. I didn't have my Media Production class this morning: we're in the process of working on our second video projects (an interview + interesting footage of someone we know) and today was classified as a "work day" for us to do some shooting and/or planning. Since my partner is doing all the filming this weekend (and then we'll edit it together), we didn't need the work day. So I slept until noon, and then made French toast for breakfast.

I did have class at four, so I did eventually get up and get going. I left the apartment around 3:30 so I could catch the bus in time. Unfortunately, I missed getting to the bus that was already there by mere minutes, but I had enough time before the next bus came (about 5 minutes) to visit the on campus ATM - Grandma (Dad's mom) sent me a $30 check for Valentine's Day! I was running low on money and needed to make a Meijer run soon, so it was much appreciated. I just finished at the ATM when the bus pulled up. Headed to my International Relations class, which is always fun; the professor is great and I'm learning a lot. However, I noticed on the bus ride back that I could only hear out of one ear of my headphones. They've been acting up lately (the wire from the headphones to the plug keeps getting pulled out unintentionally), but that wasn't the problem. So I have to go out and buy new ones, even though the ones I have now are only a few months old - in fact, I bought them while I was here at college.

So I was pretty bummed about my headphones, because I almost always have them on when I'm out, but things got better when I got home. Mommy sent me a belated Valentine's Day card (which of course made me cry), as well as $10 in cash and a $25 Meijer gift card (for groceries). AWESOME, RIGHT? So now I don't really have to choose between paying off my credit card bill or buying groceries. Now I'm done for the day, holed up with some Oreos (and peanut butter!) and watching figure skating. Go Evan Lysacek!

AND. I was delighted to find out both Rachel Maddow and Ana Marie Cox were both at CPAC today, and was secretly hoping for a picture of both of them, a la that picture of them from the Radio & TV Correspondents Dinner earlier this year. Of course, I posted this thought on Twitter, where it got picked up not only by Rachel Maddow's producer (who posted this, semi-satisfying me) but Ana Marie Cox herself (ZOMG YOU GUYS.) This has now earned me a few new Twitter followers, which is pretty weird.

Tomorrow should be pretty good as well, despite the fact that I can't eat any meat. I have an Audio Production private lesson in the morning, and grocery shopping afterwards. Then producing at a Loserville shoot, and capping the night off with some Olympics, as per usual. Tomorrow night is when Ice Dancing starts, and I'm really excited because two of USA's Ice Dancing pairs are from Michigan, right around the city where I'm from! Now if only I could fit in some homework in there as well...

So the Superbowl was on tonight, and usually I'm really into it, but this year... not so much. I was really indecisive as to who I wanted to win (and had a list of very shallow reasons as to why the Colts should beat the Saints and versa), it went by incredibly fast, and although I ordered pizza shortly before halftime, it didn't arrive until the last few minutes of the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly happy for the Saints and what this victory will bring to the City of New Orleans, but. I don't know. Something was missing. Maybe because it was the first time I'd ever watched the Superbowl absolutely by myself.

However, there was this commercial which I absolutely LOVED:

It's things like this that bring out the hopeless romantic sap in me, and then I get emotional. And speaking of romantic things, I STILL have not talked about Numb3rs - specifically the episode from two weeks ago, but also the show in general, as there are possibly only two episodes left, and they won't come until AFTER the Olympics. I also need to do a real-life update, as there are things going on in my life, such as: I hate my PR professor/class! I am making plans for next year! I am now a big TV producer! But I digress. I'd much rather sleep than update this thing all the time.

gah.

HELLO, LIVEJOURNAL! I have had a crazy stressful week, which has gone as follows:

Sunday: sleep until 3pm(!!!), watch AFC & NFC championships
Monday: decidedly not do Scriptwriting assignment (write a short story in screenplay format)
Tuesday: marathon episodes of John Adams for International Relations paper
Wednesday: become frustrated by PR professor's inability to teach, watch State of the Union, begin writing John Adams paper
Today: Shoot first video for Media Production, finish John Adams paper and turn it in

Thankfully, all that's on the agenda tomorrow is a group recording for Audio Production, and then a Loserville shoot. The weekend is also less stressful, as there is a day-long Loserville shoot on Saturday (which I might not end up going to - it depends if they'll need my producer abilities), and then I'm spending Sunday working on my Scriptwriting assignment - we have to take a personal narrative (I wrote about moving to Belgium) and write it in screenplay format - and reading all of Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight posts that I have starred in my Google Reader. And most definitely catch up on some sleep.

There was also this little gem of hilarity to make me feel better, courtesy of Overheard in New York:
I don't even want to look at my art history midterm yet, but if I don't know how I did, I'll go crazy! It's like a Catch-66! Anyway, I'm going to head back to my dorm and put on some pants.
AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS PRETTY MUCH THE STORY OF MY LIFE. (It also made me think of Ana Marie Cox - ask her about pants!)

November is looking like it'll be Midterms 2.0 for me, at least for the next two weeks. I have my second Sociology exam Monday morning, another take-home essay exam for Mass Media&American Politics due Tuesday, and an online reading quiz for World Politics that needs to be submitted by Wednesday afternoon. And then I have a Concepts of Communication project due the 16th; I've had it since the first few weeks of class, but it's one of those projects where you have to do something and then write a paper about the experience - I'm planning on doing a job shadow of some sort, but I haven't had a chance to ask my professor about contact info because I've been so busy and distracted lately, plus I'd like to have the experience fresh in my mind when it comes time to actually write the paper. Hopefully I can get the job shadowing thing done next week when I don't have anything going on. We'll see.

Other school things: I am now working at GVSU's student-run TV station! I'm one of three producers overseeing this brand-new little comedy show called Loserville, which is kinda-sorta-not really like The Big Bang Theory. Anyway, since it's a new show, we had to do a casting call to find our actors - which, ugh. So many people came out to audition, and it was hard enough remembering who everyone was, let alone looking for the people to fit these specific roles. We ended up getting into a semi-fight with one of the drama shows - we both wanted the same actress, but we weren't allowed to cast her in both our shows (even though she wouldn't have THAT big of a role in either show, and she was the only option for the drama show and our show's top option). We ended up getting her at the last minute simply because the actress put Loserville down as her first choice. I was kinda upset that I had to miss The Office and 30 Rock (and Project Runway, and The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report - the casting session didn't get over with until 12:30 AM!), but I had tons of fun hanging out with the other GVTV producers. They're all a really funny and hyper group and I'm just really excited about getting to experience it all.

I finally did get to watch The Office this morning between classes, and while I really enjoyed it overall, there was just one thing that was kind of off-putting to me. )

Also Immensly enjoying Law & Order (HI MIKE AND CONNIE, YOU GIVE ME SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO ON FRIDAY MORNINGS WHEN I AM STILL GROGGY BUT HAVE TO GO TO CLASS) - very excited about the 2 hour episode coming next week, and Numb3rs - but that's nothing new. Fridays are definitely becoming my new favorite day of the week.

I may or may not have had an urge to write something, thanks to a picture I found during a random browsing of We Heart It. I'm not entirely sure how it's going to play out yet, but hey, at least I'm attempting to try writing again?
