Cry at the end......
Mar. 12th, 2005 09:58 amI just finished watching Trial by Jury, courtesy of Comcast DVR. Quite an interesting episode. Only the third episode of the series, and the first one that doesn't have Lennie in it. Jerry Orbach (who plays Lennie) was supposed to do the first six episodes of TBJ, but could only do two episodes before getting to sick from cancer. They showed those two episodes last week, Thursday and Friday. I've been reading through various sources that the episode next week orthe week after will feature the characters having a memorial service for him. I think it's a nice way to commemorate Jerry's death.
I can remember when I first heard that Jerry died. I had only been watching Law and Order for about a week, and I was hooked. In fact, Lennie was the first character I fell in love with. I remember sitting here at the computer, surfing the internet, and the noon news was about to come on. At the beginning, they were like, "A Law and Order star has died. Find out who coming up at noon." That immediately caught my attention. I turned, looked at the TV, and the were showing some clip of Jerry. Right then and there I knew that he was tthe one who died. I went on CNN to find out more, and learned he was 69 and died of prostate cancer. After that, I got really quiet, but inside I was hysterical. I actually watched Law and Order that night (on TNT and NBC) and I loved the tributes they gave him. And then again at the SAG awards, they did this "Dead Stars Memorandum" and when they got to Jerry, everyone was clapping. And then he won the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and he got a standing ovation. He was a great actor. I'll miss him.
