mydarlingHard to believe that this year is almost over - seems like just yesterday we were all waiting for Obama to be inaugurated, and now he's been president for almost a year. And the decade is also coming to a close; those ten years have just flown by. I feel so old.

+ 2009 in fandom:
1. Your main fandom of the year?
Mostly The Office, but there was some Numb3rs mixed in there - which doesn't really have that big of a fandom, and that's totally fine with me since I'd rather keep that awesomeness to myself.
2. Your favorite film watched this year?
I really enjoyed Steven Soderburg's Traffic, which we watched in my Intro to Film class earlier in the year. Other than that, I really didn't have a lot of time to watch movies for fun.
3. Your favorite book read this year?
The only non-school-related book I read this year was Richard Wolffe's Renegade, which I didn't love, but I didn't totally hate it either.
4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Aside from an instrumental gymnastics floor exercise version of "Putting on the Ritz", my most played song this year was Michael Jackson's "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)" due largely in part to Shawn Johnson's Dancing with the Stars performance and MJ's death.
5. Your favorite TV show of the year?
Nearly everything I watched was hit-or-miss at some point during the year, but How I Met Your Mother remained consistently enjoyable.
6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?

7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Oh gosh, Sports Night and Mad Men for sure. Thanks to constant DVD marathons, I was able to watch the entire series of both shows within a few weeks (and in Mad Men's case, be totally caught up in time for the season 3 premiere in August.)
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Definitely House. House/Cuddy was practically shoved down my throat in every episode while Chase/Cameron was not-so-casually tossed aside (resulting in the leave of one Jennifer Morrison from the show with no possibility of her returning), storylines were abandoned and the medical cases were just not that interesting. Plus, have you met some of the people in this fandom? They're legitimately crazy. Also 24, but that's basically because they killed off Bill Buchanan for no reason and haven't realized they just need to GIVE IT UP ALREADY.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
CSI:NY's Flack, who is constantly in need of a hug now that he is all RAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEE after Angell, his fellow detective girlfriend, was killed and naturally he feels responsible.
10. Your TV pop culture girlfriend of the year?
That would be MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
When Charlie proposed to Amita on Numb3rs, because I didn't realize it was coming until it actually happened. (Although there was plenty of talk about it happening throughout the season, but we just didn't know when it would happen.)
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
I really miss The West Wing a lot, as I've been having a reinssance as of late.
13. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Chuck, if only for the Chuck/Sarah aspect of the show. (What can I say, I'm a romantic at heart.)
14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
I can't wait for Jim and Pam's baby to be born on The Office, and desperately hope it comes sooner rather than later. Finding out the identity of The Mother on How I Met Your Mother, something I've been waiting a while for. And unfortunately for me, Numb3rs is possibly ending within the next few weeks, so I hope to get a satisfying finale, meaning: Charlie and Amita's wedding. If I don't get at least that, I'm going to be pissed.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Move all the away across the state to attend college.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any for this year because I knew I probably wouldn't be able to keep them. For next year, I hope to actually write a lot more, as well as try and make friends.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope. I think all my aunts are pretty much done having kids, and the majority of my friends aren't yet old enough.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
2009 was a cruel year for celebrity deaths, but thankfully left my family and friends unharmed.
5. What countries did you visit?
The United States of America.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Friends. A life. A job. Money.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 30th (the day I was officially done with the stupid Community College), June 29th (the day of my heart surgery), July 18th (my 19th birthday and the day I got my laptop), and August 25th (the day Senator Ted Kennedy died and I moved out to Grand Valley.)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not failing English 102 and World Politics, despite the fact that I didn't do well in either class.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Oddly enough, my Social Problems class - grades were based soley on three exams, and I am not a very good test-taker.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Does semi-major heart surgery count? Because yes. And of course the usual colds and headaches.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Sports Night on DVD!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Barack Obama. The Arizona Cardinals. Keith Olbermann. Rachel Maddow. Jon Stewart.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The Republican Party. The New York Giants.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Paying off my credit card bill.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Jim and Pam's wedding.

Definitely poorer. I spent all my graduation money on things I really don't need using my credit card, and now I've got to pay that off. Plus, I have to buy my own groceries now, which sucks.

Study. Be social.

Being lazy, spending my time in front of the computer/tv.

Church. Presents. Dinner with some extended family in Ann Arbor.

A laptop, finally. His name is Cronkite after the late newsanchor Walter Cronkite, who died the day before my birthday.

We watched Traffic in my Intro to Film class, and I enjoyed that emensely.

I turned 19. Things were incredibly low-key since I had only gotten out of the hospital a week earlier. Had dinner at Red Robin with my family, and then my only present was this laptop, and I was estactic.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
To be actually happy about my college choice.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
A collection of various jeans/leggings, graphic tees, sweaters, hipster scarves and my Converse.

Attending a New Year's Eve party at my aunt&uncle&cousins later tonight, something I've never done in all my years of celebrating NYE. Usually we just sit around in front of the TV eating shrimp and watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve with Ryan Seacrest - which has become a thing in the past few years, as I always like to see how Dick Clark is looking in the years after he had that terrible stroke. I secretly fear I won't get to see that tonight; although, how will we know it's officially midnight here? And wouldn't everyone like to see the ball drop in Times Square? These are the things I think about.
Probably won't be around LJ much for the rest of the day, though I'll probably be tweeting at the party tonight via my phone. So: HAPPY NEW YEAR! May your 2010 be filled with awesome, happiness and general good things.
