mydarling: (OFFICE. i missed you.)

So the Cardinals didn't win last night, failing to make the Superbowl a real Cinderella story like I (and Mommy and a whole bunch of other people) thought it would be. Instead, Pittsburgh won, making this the second straight Superbowl where I came out disappointed. Congrats to to the Steelers and all, but they've now won six Superbowls - the most recent one three years ago. Most of the players on this team played in that game and already have a ring - they really don't need another one. I mean, THE CARDINALS HAVE NEVER WON A SUPERBOWL. Who I am supposed to see about that? Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of the team played their absolute best, and they should have been rewarded for it.

(Seriously, I knew things weren't going well towards the end when they played "Boogie Shoes" and Pittsburgh had a slight lead. I secretly hoped that it was a good sign that the Cardinals might just pull this thing off, but that was not the case. MAJOR LOSE.)

Since the game didn't have the outcome that I'd hoped for, I was hoping The Office could make me happy. It definitely did. The cold open was the absolute funniest thing I'd seen in months - Dwight starting a major fire and locking all the doors, Oscar and Bandit the Cat falling from the ceiling, Andy and Jim trying to open the door with the copier and ending up breaking the copier instead of the door and "THE FIRE IS SHOOTING AT US!".

New credits! I really like them, but I think they could of benefited from getting new shots of the original four cast members, which they've had since season 1.

The entire bit with the CPR dummy was hilarious - Michael refusing to save the dummy because it had no arms or legs (and singing "I Will Survive" while doing CPR), Andy singing "Stayin' Alive" way too passionately, and Dwight cutting off the face of the Dummy and wearing it as a mask. The roast! Kelly's list of people she would do before doing Michael (a turtle!), Oscar yelling in Spanish (so fast that even I couldn't understand it) and Andy singing "What I Hate About You." And Pam - "If it was an iPod, it would be a Shuffle." Brilliant. And I felt really bad for Michael taking his personal day, even if I could not stop laughing during the scene with him in the park throwing slices of bread to the non-existant (gone west for the winter!) birds. But he came back to the office with some great roasts - my favorites were "Jim, you're six-eleven and weigh 90 pounds", "Oscar, you're gay" and "Andy, you're gayer that Oscar". Boom, roasted.

I really, really liked the Jim/Pam stuff in this episode, even though it was small, and according to some people, unnecessary. I think it was definitely needed after going through weeks where Dwight/Angela/Andy was the only couple featured. It was so simple and sweet - Pam's parents having martial problems and Pam thinking that it's going to happen with her and Jim, but then finding out that Jim told her dad she was the only one for him and he can't imagine being with someone else. "I guess kids think their parents are soul mates. My kids will be right." Aww.

OMG,I AM LITERALLY FREAKING OUT ABOUT THURSDAY'S EPISODE. KAREN IS PREGNANT AND EVERYONE THINKS IT'S JIM'S BUT I AM CONVINCED IT'S NOT. That would just be a stupid storyline and lame way to create drama between Jim&Pam when we already know they're going to end up together. I'm really excited that I only have to wait three more days instead of a week and a half for a new episode.
