Good morning. I didn't get to bed until almost 12:30 AM because the debate party ran a little longer than expected, and then I ran frantically around the house looking for MacTaylor (my iPod), which I had to sleep without last night and didn't find until this morning. And I had to get up at 6:30 AM today because Dad was taking me to school early. I wish I could skip all my classes today and just sleep. Tomorrow should be better.

We watched the debate on CNN in HD, which was perfect. Tom Brokaw is one of my favorite NBC peeps, and he was a great moderator last night. He seemed really suited for this town-hall formatted debate and was able to usher the candidates along and present questions in a great fashion. I know that McCain is more comfortable in this style of gathering, but I think that Obama won this one. Once again, that's not because I'm a big supporter of his. Obama actually answered the questions posed (and put them in terms average people could understand), while McCain took the "politician approach" and gave some long winded answer that had nothing to do with the question. Obama talked more towards the entire audience as well as the viewers at home. McCain seemed to only to talk the person asking the question. (Fun fact: He said "My friends" 18 times during the debate. YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND, JOHN MCCAIN.)

I loved Obama's little shout-out to Michelle - how she knows more than he does, but that doesn't mean he doesn't not know stuff. Those two are my political OTP, guys. They're absolutely adorable together!

And WTF was up with John McCain trying to be witty? Saying "that one" and pointing to Obama when going on the attack? He knew that the people couldn't really respond, so why do it? Like this remark:
Brokaw: Senator, who would you choose as your Secretary of Treasury?
McCain: Not you, Tom.
I'm assuming that was a joke, or at least a really lame attempt at one. But Obama mentioned Warren Buffet as a possibility, and I was all, "OMAHA REPRESENT!" (Mommy's from Omaha, and Buffet gets a lot of mention with her family.) McCain mentioned a bunch of people I've never heard of. Sad.

All in all, a good debate. It'll be interesting to see the one next week; I don't think I'll go to the watch party, though. I like watching at home.

It's drizzling right now (not a lot of fun to walk to classes in, nor is it romantic), and MacTaylor played a string of emo indie music. Cheer up, little iPod! Even though it going to be a long and boring day, it's the day of Wednesday Night TV!
