mydarling: (tv writer love.)
My entire week so far has been spent worrying about the writer's strike. Yes, I know, it seems kind of trivial, but for someone who watches and obsesses over TV as much as I do and actually wants to be a writer for television when she's older, it's kind of important.

I actually love most of what I'm hearing; TONS of actors are supporting the strike (Jay Leno brings the writers doughnuts! Eva Longoria gets them pizza! None of the The Office actors have crossed the picket line!), and general newsmedia has been super supportive and terribly informative. (Also, if I didn't have such a wonderful, tv-obsessed flist, I wouldn't be so involved. Love you guys.)

On the other hand, I am quite worried. I've mostly been concerned about The Office, because of the flist, but there are other shows I'm worried about: 24, mostly. The fact that it's a mid-season show that does take any breaks between January and May is sort of a problem with the strike. They have about 8 episodes done, but depending on how long this strike lasts, that could be all the episodes they do, and FOX might not even air it at all. We'll see.

I really don't want reruns, but I while this is going on, I have to support. This is my future job, after all. And you all can visit unitedhollywood.com, which is an awesome blog about the strike. Very informative.

PLEASE. Support the shows you love, but support the people who make them even more.
