we've still got time

mydarlingI'm perfectly content with the fact that no one on my flist watches Numb3rs, and I'm not going to use this as a point to say "OMG YOU GUYS SHOULD WATCH THIS SHOW BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME", because I'd actually like to keep the flailing to myself - it's the one show where I can have crazy thoughts and not think about the flist's reaction/input, as well evidenced by the following:
CHARLIE PROPOSED TO AMITA.
NO, REALLY. YOU GUYS. I'M LIKE 98% SURE I DIDN'T DREAM IT HAPPENED. Do you know how long I've been waiting for this? A VERY, VERY LONG TIME. And my desire for it increased even more since that one moment towards the end of "Primacy" (which is an episode from earlier in the season very similar to the finale, except that the FBI rescues Amita before her kidnappers can actually do anything) where Alan asked Charlie that if they're moving in together, are they going to get married, and Charlie is all "NO DAD, WE'RE NOT, NOW GET OFF MY CASE" when secretly, THEY WERE - we just didn't know it yet.
(I like that Alan and I have the same goal for Charlie, although he is much more vocal about it. THIS IS WHY HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THE SHOW.)
And I sort of knew the proposal was coming - they're alone, they're standing outside Cal Sci at night, Charlie does a little monologue about how life is full of uncertainties and can change in an instant - the only logical thing to follow was for him to propose. But I am very unhappy that the episode ends at that; I think we all know that Amita will end up saying yes, because a) she's told Charlie how much she loves him; b) they're already living together; and c) her parents have met him AND approve of him despite the fact that he is Jewish, not Indian. I AM STICKING TO THIS THEORY UNTIL IT IS CONFIRMED OR DENIED IN THE SEASON PREMIERE.
(Don and Robin? I STILL HAVE HOPE FOR YOU THAT YOU WILL ONE DAY GET MARRIED. In fact, I like to pretend that you guys are already secretly married. Though I'm not surprised that Charlie proposed first, given Don and all his issues. ONE DAY, YOU TWO GROWN-UPS, LATER RATHER THAN SOONER, OKAY? Just so you don't overshadow Charlie and Amita.)
(Also, I desperately need screencaps and/or icons of this because their scenes together were just so frakking beautiful.)
Between this and The Office, I am getting so spoiled, gosh. Although the downside is that I'm given these little cliffhanger moments and end up driving myself crazy over the summer with speculation and theories, anxiously anticipating season premieres in the fall. I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW I'M GOING TO GET THROUGH IT.
