My English class seems to piss me off more and more each day. Today I found out the rough draft of my paper - the one on how realistic The West Wing is (which got totally ripped apart by the professor, who called it "not relevant" because The West Wing has been off the air for nearly three years and he doesn't think I have enough sources) is due Monday, the same day as my journalistic review for Film AND my take home exam and essay for Anthropology. I haven't started any of it. Seriously, all this writing has turned me off to becoming a writer.

And it turns out that those stupid little essays I have to read and summarize are worth 30 points each, and I haven't done any of them so far, since a) they're stupid and totally not relevant to what the whole class is about, and b) I'm too busy writing papers for the class PLUS papers for my other classes, and I just don't have the time. So I'm practically failing the class right now, even though I don't know my exact grade. I can only assume these things. Ngh.

Although I did get to bitch about the class with a student, which was really nice to let out some of my frustruations and let me know that I am not the only one who finds the professor to be not a very good teacher. Only a few more weeks, I tell myself, then I will be done with the class (and the stupid college) FOREVER.

American Idol does Michael Jackson. Anyone else think it's a coincidence that they do that theme within a week of the King of Pop announces he's doing a comeback tour? I don't think he's allowed back in the US, but that would've been a huge draw for the show if they could get him. Anyway. I found myself agreeing with Simon a lot more than usual during this one - and I seriously wanted to tell the audience to shut the frak up several times throughout the show. THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A PERFORMER.

Lil Rounds, who I think is incredibly over hyped this season (along with several others), sang "The Way You Make Me Feel", which to me will always be the song used in the big dance sequence at the end of Center Stage (my favorite part of that whole movie). I really don't think it's one of those songs that can be changed to be sung by a female, since it just doesn't have the same effect. Also, I hated what she was wearing.

My biggest worry is that Scott and Allison (and to some extent, Meghan) won't do well when it comes to a specific theme. Scott tends to sing more uplifting songs, Allison sings hard rock, and Meghan sings soul-ish stuff. If they go as far as the judges think they will, they really need to start showing some versatility, and sooner rather than later.

I really like Jasmine's version of "I'll Be There" - it was more the Mariah version than the Jackson 5 one, but she did a pretty good job with it, in my opinion. If American Idol does studio performances again (*fingers crossed*), that's probably one I'd try to get my hands on. Although it's only the first week of competition, so there's probably something even bigger coming that I'll want even more. We'll see.

Confession: I can't listen to "Rockin Robin" without thinking of The Office. It's now stuck in my head. Although I did think Meghan shouted more than she actually sang it, and she really could've picked a better song, but since I am poorly versed in the works of Michael Jackson, I can't make a recommendation.

ANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP. That is how I will be saying his name from now on. I was disappointed that he didn't sing "Thriller" (because that would've been a good choice for him), and I was even more disappointed with his actual performance. I ended up voting for him though, because they made a special exception to include him and it's just too early to see him go. I have no doubt that nearly everyone else agrees with me, and he's going to sail on through.

I don't see the appeal of Danny, other than his name happens to be Danny ♥ That's all.

Grandma sent me another check, so I bought things! The West Wing Script Book for Seasons 1&2 (I already have the one for Seasons 3&4, and have been looking for the first one for years), a lined paper Moleskine (which should hopefully motivate me to write more) and black Converses. I'm also debating whether or not to get this shirt, and in what color. Thoughts?

I've been so busy the past few weeks that I haven't even thought about my [livejournal.com profile] inrevelations assignment, let alone what I'm going to write. I'm going through a serious bout of creative writer's block, yo. Help me out.
