My only gripe from the Red Carpet portion is that there are no pics of John and Jenna together. But Jenna looked amazing (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DRESS, IT WAS MY FAVORITE FROM THE NIGHT) and John looked hot as always.

On to the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Train Wreck!

I SAID THIS BEFORE WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED THAT REALITY SHOW HOSTS WERE HOSTING THE EMMYS, BUT I STICK BY MY POSITION THAT THE COULD HAVE GONE WITH SOMEONE MUCH, MUCH BETTER WHO WOULDN'T SPEND FIFTEEN MINUTES PRATTLING ABOUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND THEN BEING SHITTY HOSTS FOR THE NEXT 2 AND A HALF HOURS. Oprah came out first thing and did a wonderful introduction which was very simple, and she would've made a great host. I've said this earlier, but Jimmy Kimmel would've worked perfectly. AND THAT ENTIRE CATEGORY WAS A JOKE AS WELL; JEFF PROBST? SERIOUSLY, WTF EMMYS?

This is Emmy's 60th year, and I was expecting something a la the Oscars where they show clips of past Emmy winner's acceptance speeches and how televison and the Emmys themselves have evolved. BUT NO. THE OPENING WENT ON FOR 15 MINUTES LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, Tommy Smothers had to make a super-long acceptance speech about nothing at all, and Don Rickles had to do an entire comedy routine during his speech, so the show ran long and a ton of stuff had to be cut. So instead of Kiefer presenting the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and saying how he's honored to be considered with a bunch of talented actors and so should this year's winner (which I would've liked to hear, as it is important in this 60th year), he just presented the award. MAJOR FOR THE LOSE.

I thoroughly enjoyed the opening montage of famous television actors doing famous one-liners; nearly fell off the couch from flailing so hard at John Krasinski's "How you doin'?" And I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Josh Groban singing the TV theme song medley; I sang along when I could, and I fail miserably at the clapping part from the Friends theme song.

Amy Poehler's welcomes were absolutely hilarious. I wish she would've won!

I actually think Jeremy Piven deserved to win again this year *ducks*. He's a phenomenal actor, and he is Ari Gold. Also, I am sad he did not bring his Mommy this year.

I loved the bit with Steve Carell and Ricky Gervais: "Have you even been to see Ghost Town yet? I sat through Evan Almighty, now give me my Emmy!". And then presenters made a joke of it every time the winner wasn't there to accept; "We're accepting this award on his behalf, and then giving it to Steve Carell" was probably my favorite line of the entire night.

Yay for Tina Fey. I'm so proud of her, and the speeches she gave made me cry. She's my hero and I want to work in television because of her. She's always considered herself a writer first and actor second, which I admire. She was just so sweet and humble and I loved it. HAT RACK WINS AN EMMY, WHATWHAT.

Was totes on the money re: Minseries awards. I picked John Adams for every category it was nominated in and they swept it. That series was so good. (Relatedly, I think they should stop nominating Judi Dench because she never attends and thus never wins. Which goes back to the point I made during the noms that the academy should tell everyone else nominated not to show up and just give Laura Linney the Emmy. BECAUSE SHE WAS THAT AWESOME.)

THERE WAS A WEST WING TRIBUTE. (Three years too late, in my opinion, but what's important is that THERE WAS A TRIBUTE.) And Martin Sheen was hilarious: "This show won a bunch of awards, but everyone else in the cast won except for me." AND THEN HE TOLD US HOW DECISIONS ARE MADE BY PEOPLE WHO SHOWED UP AND THAT WE SHOULD GO AND VOTE IN NOVEMBER AND I WAS ALL YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. (I don't know if anyone caught it, but Allison Janney was shown in the graphic for Best Actress in a Drama Series from when she won in 2004! She keeps her Emmys under her piano, FYI.)

COLBERT LOST. AGAIN. TO DON RICKLES, OF ALL PEOPLE. HE'S GOING TO BE PISSED WHEN HE GOES BACK TO HIS SHOW NEXT WEEK.

Tim Russert getting a mention on "In Memoriam" = ♥. I didn't think he was going to get a mention, but there he was. I teared up.

I was rooting for The Office to win Best Comedy, but I was proud to see 30 Rock win again as they're another one of my favs. And they were definitely more consistent post-strike, as where The Office faltered a bit.

I had a feeling that neither House nor Hugh Laurie would win because Hugh Laurie wasn't there (apparently he's sick with the flu?), so once they announced Mad Men as the winner for Best Drama, I was all "THANK FRAKKING GOD, THIS TRAIN WRECK IS FINALLY OVER AND I CAN GO TO BED UNHAPPY." The irony in that is that I didn't fall asleep until nearly 2 AM because I was so wired.

I know I've said this for the past few years, but my favorite Emmys to date are the 2006 ones that were on NBC. Conan was a fabulous and hilarious host, Kiefer & 24 & The Office won, and there was just this feeling that it was going to be a great ceremony. They've gone downhill in the past, and this one was probably the lowest of the low. I guess we'll just have to wait until next year.

"Shake It" = my new crack. I was singing that and the theme from The Simpsons during commercial breaks to stay positive. Now they're stuck in my head.
