  1. Hello to all my new friends!
  2. It is mighty chilly here. And it looks as if it might rain again.
  3. I may or may not be failing Astronomy.
  4. I'm wearing my "Sara Dillane" shirt today, as it is Monday. I might change it to suit Prison Break.
  5. I recently came to the realization that I can read all of Jon Stewart's America and know pretty much everything I need to know for Government. And it's a heck of a lot funnier than my textbook.
  6. I have Season 7 of The West Wing waiting to be picked up at the library, but I can't get it until tomorrow.
  7. This GIF is incredibly hypnotic.
  8. I'm trying to put off typing up my speech by posting a pointless entry. I don't think it's working.
mydarling: (random / superobama)
Feel free to skip over this entry, it's basically just me venting.

-

There are only two things that make me truly angry:

1) TV shows that are truly awesome getting canceled (See: New Amsterdam)
2) Facebook groups like this.

Yes, that group is against Obama. I totally understand if you're against him or don't support what he stands for, but this group (at least the way I see it) is less about educating potential voters on Obama's faults and more about getting as many people to join as possible.

This only came to my attention because a few of my Facebook friends have joined the group. I'm all for getting into politics, but honestly? Those people only joined the group to say they're a part of one of Facebook's largest groups. They're not likely to vote come November.

Politics is one of my greatest loves - I've grown up watching NBC Nightly News and couldn't wait to turn 18 so I could vote. I'm voting for Obama because I want change, not because it's the "cool" thing to do. I know that these kinds of things (negative ads and such) are common come election time, but seeing that people I know are just joining this group not because they're against Obama.

I'm sorry if this offends any of you, but I'm just so fed up with the actions that people I know are taking. If they really want to be against Obama, they really shouldn't be a joining a Facebook group called "10,000 people against Obama"; they should register to vote and vote for John McCain or some other candidate. Voting is the only way to make a change, and these people should know that.

-

Also, I think I need to get an Obama t-shirt now.
mydarling: (newamsterdam / subway)
Hey, guess what? I haven't been dome with High School for less than a week, and look what I find:

FOX CANCELS NEW AMSTERDAM!

YEAH. 24 CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH.

Why, FOX, WHY? It was a good show! It had comedy! It had crime! It had romanticism! Yes, there were some shaky parts (SARA DILLANE, I'M LOOKING AT YOU), but it could improve!

I WANTED MORE, DAMMIT. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT LEFT ME ON SUCH A BAD NOTE. But I guess that's just the FOX way: "If it's really good, we'll cancel it!"

So that t-shirt I made? TRULY, A WASTE.
mydarling: (office / call of duty)
GUYS. I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THIS.

HALLO THAR CAST OF 24. YOU ALL LOOK SO FIERCE.

And now I've totally forgotten about there not being anymore episodes of New Amsterdam. MY SHOW IS BACK! I NEED ICONS, DAMMIT.
mydarling: (newamsterdam / subway)
Please pardon my anger-induced incoherency.

New Amsterdam, or why Maureen should never, ever get that obsessed over a show. )

Want to do this meme to make me feel better?
mydarling: (random / superobama)
Why today is getting better and better:

- I'm one step closer to being a registered voter!
- I sent out a lunch order to Jimmy John's during Office Assistant today, and it was super successful.
- I HAVE A PROM DATE!!
- I may take some of my college classes during the summer, since I'll be around.
- The weather is nice.
- New Amsterdam season finale tonight!
- THE POPE IS COMING!!
- A meme, from [livejournal.com profile] delgaserasca:

Comment with a subject for a top 5 (ships, songs, moments, scenes, foods, etc, etc.) that you would like to see me answer. Feel free to ask for more than one.

mydarling: (Default)
GIP & GLP ([livejournal.com profile] pretty_cynical. I miss Pushing Daisies!

Things have been relatively crazy with me the past few days: I found out that my last official day of high school is April 29th, finals start April 30th and go until May 5th, and then I take the AP Spanish Exam of DOOM on May 6th. Senioritis hit me really hard after that; I'm failing my two hardest classes (AP Spanish and Pre-Calc) and honestly, with two weeks left of high school, I don't care. The weather's getting warmer and I don't want to do any work.

In other school related news, I have a possible Prom date, courtesy of mommy. I really hope it works, because I need to have it confirmed by the end of the week, and Prom is next Friday. Also, I need shoes that are a) cheap, and b) do not look ridiculous with my dress.

-

I've been disappointed with post-strike TV. I got all hyped up for The Office, only to be let down considerably. Although the promos for the next few episodes have got me all excited. However, I do have a newfound love for 30 Rock, possibly in part because I've been to 30 Rock. Wednesday night TV has been pretty uneventful, but I'm sure once May sweeps rolls around, it'll get better. Numb3rs has made me laugh, however.

OH, AND MY AMERICAN IDOL BOYFRIEND GOT VOTED OFF AND I'VE COME THE CONCLUSION THAT IT'S CONSIDERABLY RIGGED.

New Amsterdam season finale tomorrow night! What am I going to do after it's over and there are 5 months until the 24 prequel?

unlucky.

I've been super stressed/frustrated the past few days, due to the following:

- A very strong headache that gets worse instead of better when I take ibuprofen (yes, even the strong stuff).
- Failing a Pre-Calc quiz (and consequently failing the class) because I was unprepared for it after Spring Break, and the teacher was no help.
- I still can't find the commercial for tomorrow's New Amsterdam, despite using every search query possible. Apparently I can wait 5 days, it'll just frustrate me in the process.
- I've lost all lack of motivation re: school because I only have a month or so left.
- I don't have a date to Prom yet (it's two weeks away), and I have no idea who to ask because I'm truly anti-social and go to an all-girls school; the guys I do know I don't know really well or have girlfriends. Also, I'm not really close with anyone at school, so I'm not sitting with anyone I really like for Prom dinner, and there's nothing I can do about it.
- My iPod has been temperamental the past few weeks: not syncing content, making iTunes freeze up, or just not working.
- POST STRIKE TV HAS SUCKED. BADLY. I'm hoping that NBC's Thursday Night Comedy Night makes up for it.
- I somehow end up with a TON of homework, and end up procrastinating so much that don't do much of it.

However, things are looking up, because:
- I don't have school tomorrow. AGAIN. And I've got TONS of stuff I need to do. I plan on seeing Leatherheads. And buying some books at Borders. And at Target? I need to get a graduation dress, another iTunes card, and more minutes for my cellphone. Plus, I need to apply to the community college I'm going to next year (and schedule a visit).
- I have new music: The Decemberists, She & Him, and Gavin DeGraw.
- I bought myself a paid account, so more icons :)
- New Amsterdam tomorrow night, FINALLY.
- The Manning Brothers and Maroon 5 on American Idol for Idol Gives Back on Wednesday!
- I GET THE OFFICE BACK IN 4 DAYS.
mydarling: (newamsterdam / subway)
I'm very, very tense because I can't find a clip of the preview for next weeks' New Amsterdam episode ANYWHERE and I really need to see it just so I can get all these "OMGYAY!" feelings out of me so that there's at least some coherency when it comes time to talk about the past two episodes. SERIOUSLY, I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND I DEFINITELY CANNOT WAIT 5 DAYS.

(I suppose I could watch the commericals during American Idol tonight, but a) I didn't watch it last night, so it would be pointless; and b) there's a strong possibility that they won't show them, due to the timespan between Wednesday and Monday nights. Plus, I've truly missed my Wednesday night TV nights; American Idol is not a part of them.)

-

In other news, Criminal Minds returns tonight, and I've long suspected (at least, since CBS showed commercials over the weekend), that Paget has gotten bangs, and those suspicions were confirmed this morning as I was reading the newspaper. I promptly wept.

Also, an The Office spin-off is coming post-Superbowl in 2009. What I've read generally seems to be negative reactions (which I totally agree with), but as it gets closer to the premiere, I'm hoping we'll hear better things. I'm just excited to get the original The Office back in EIGHT DAYS!

I've been back from New York since Friday morning, but am just now getting around to posting.

New York was exhausting and exciting. We only spent three days there, but they were so jam-packed that there wasn't a lot of time to sleep, and when it was time to sleep, I couldn't. But I had fun, and got to see TONS of stuff.

My favorite sight was Times Square/Broadway; I tried to take a New Amsterdam-esque picture, and this was my best attempt. We saw Xanadu on Broadway - it was a little too raunchy for me, but still very good. Tony Roberts, the actor who played Danny/Zeus, looked really familiar, although I don't remember seeing anything he's been in. Went to the Statue of Liberty; was nearly attacked by Asian tourists, and made a very special walking trip from 5th Avenue to Rockefeller Center, just so I could visit the NBC store. Bought a Fun Run shirt (to wear when I work out, so I can look like more of a dork), and a Kenneth the Page shirt. I even was pointed out to famous spots from TV/movies: the fountain from Enchanted, Law & Order production offices, 30 Rock, the Statue of Liberty (from the season premiere of CSI:NY), and exteriors from Friends, and Times Square (from the New Amsterdam pilot)!

All in all, I had a good time. And Mac Taylor (my iPod, not the character) was a HUGE help on the trip - he was equipped with episodes of CSI:NY and New Amsterdam to keep me occupied, and the combination of solitaire and hours of music were a great way to combat the boredom that is NYC traffic. Although next trip (whenever that may be), I definitely want to see Aaron Sorkin's Broadway play and visit NBC studios. Standing outside was just not enough.

-

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to talk about New Amsterdam - just so I can talk about two episodes in one entry. I will say that this week's episode was most definitely worth waiting nearly a week to see it, and then it's great only having to wait three days instead of the usual week. I can't believe there are only 3 episodes left; I desperately want/NEED a second season of this show. It's, like, the perfect show for me. I NEED THIS ICONED, DAMMIT.

-

BEST PRISON BREAK NEWS EVER. Although I'm going to have to play catch up with the show; I haven't watched it since.

-

I now have to do all of the homework that I put off because it was Spring Break and I was lazy. Plus, once I go back, I've only got a month left of high school. I AM SO NOT GOING TO MAKE IT.

new york!

mydarling: (newyork / ain't no other man)
GUYS. I LEAVE FOR NEW YORK IN A FEW HOURS. MY EXCITEMENT CAN NOT BE CONTAINED.

OH, AND I FINALLY GOT MY IPOD. It's black and oh so tiny. I named it Mac Taylor!

And I still have to pack.

(This post is brought to you by John Amsterdam, who would like to remind you that HE ALMOST DIED ON THE SUBWAY PLATFORM IN NEW YORK. Which is probably why we're not allowed to take it.)
mydarling: (a: jm / touch the sky)
OMGOMGOMG I SO KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING.

The void that 24 left me with has been filled by this show.

(Also, so NOT HAPPY that House is going to be on Monday nights. It's an essential part of my Tuesday TV! NOT MONDAY.)
mydarling: (numb3rs / working girl)
So. I'm exhausted from play rehearsals, falling in love with New Amsterdam, and freaking out over the fact that I've got a HUGE Spanish project due on Monday that I haven't even started and won't have any time to do this weekend, because of the play. THIS WEEKEND IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME, GUYS. /sarcasm

AND. I FORGOT ABOUT MARCH 12TH. STUPID BUSY LIFE.

-

Anyway, let's do this, because everyone else is doing it:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

-

TWO THREE WEEKS UNTIL THE OFFICE COMES BACK! I CAN NOT WAIT THAT LONG, OMG. (I can't count, apparently. But still, LONG TIME.)
